Jean Philippe Courtois, President of Microsoft International, on the skills gap

Have a look at this interview with Jean Philippe Courtois produced by the INSEAD eLab, following the publication of a report by the European Business Summit and INSEAD proposing a Skills Pact for Europe.

Jean Philippe stresses that we must not lose sight of human capital, the most important economic asset we have in Europe: for Europe to succeed we need to narrow the skills gap so that we can rebound quickly from the economic downturn. His recommendations for the innovation agenda in Europe include more spending on higher education, and in particular, the building of links between the top universities and the best companies – an element which is somewhat lacking in Europe at present.

Microsoft will be publishing a new IDC report on Europe’s skills outlook at the end of this month. Watch this space.
