The competitiveness challenge is one which will decide the future of Europe, and given the nature of globalisation, we as a continent need to get further into the business of selling ideas to be able to meet this challenge
But for it to become a reality, we must invest more in human resources, because overall skills levels are lagging. In particular, we need to look at improving high-end skills levels, and especially e-skills, given the growth potential in IT-led sectors such as the green economy. At Microsoft, we’re trying to do our bit, working with the European Union and other public and private players to help foster e-skills across Europe.
