Approximately 10,000 “Campuseros” from across Europe attended Campus Party Europe, hosted by Telefonica at the 02 in London on 2-6 September. Described as the Glastonbury for Geeks, Campus Party EU is the largest technology festival in Europe.
We were there with a large, innovative stand showing the latest Windows 8 devices, Surface RT and Pro, Visual Studio, Unity, 3D Printing and the Xbox One. A lot of action took place on the Microsoft stand, where many talks revolved around Windows 8 Apps Development and Business Start-ups.
Microsoft’s presence was greatly enhanced at Campus Party by Microsoft Student Ambassadors and Microsoft Interns. Microsoft’s ambassador programme is designed for young people with a deep technical and product knowledge, as well as genuine passion and excitement about our products, who engage with the UK student community. There are 3 types of ambassadors: Windows Go-to Ambassadors, Windows Games Ambassadors and Microsoft Student Partners.
The Ambassadors helped Campuseros – app developers, coders, web developers and students – understand the business opportunities offered by Windows as a platform. Surface and Windows 8 Phone devices were superb ammunitions to engage with other attendees. Windows 8 on desktops, tablets and Surfaces greatly helped people to get a feel for the new OS and decide what device is best to suit their life.
Windows Games Ambassadors demoed Unity and the Visual Studio plugin, while Microsoft Student Partners empowered Campuseros to build the apps in the best environment possible. In addition, DreamSpark, a programme that supports technical education by allowing institutions, educators and students to get access Microsoft software for learning, teaching and research purposes – was also introduced to the community.
Thanks to its latest and trending technology, Microsoft created an innovative, vibrant and welcoming presence at Campus Party, interacting with over 7000 people. After such a fantastic experience, we look forward to the many new apps on the Windows Store!
