A survey last year by the National Employment Agency shows that more than 19% of Bulgarian youth aged 15 to 29 are unemployed; while other estimates indicate that this number is actually closer to 30%. The country’s national statistics also show that roughly 10% of graduates leave Bulgaria to attend higher education abroad and most of these young people never come back.
