“Cloud Computing guy for Microsoft International”

I just looked up the term Cloud computing on Google News and unless I’m doing something wrong, it appears that the term has turned up in as many news items in the last month as it has in the last year.
Yes, it’s big, and for good reason. Cloud computing isn’t a fad: it can revolutionise the way businesses interact with technology, allowing them to do more with less. Perhaps most exciting of all, it will enable start-ups and lone rangers to scale at unprecedented speed without being held back by IT costs and bottlenecks.
Having said that, it’s not our place to explain cloud computing. We’d rather leave that to the experts within the organisation who work on the stuff day in day out and know it better than anyone anywhere. This week we’d like to introduce Steve Clayton – aka “Geek in Disguise” – who writes on his blog that his “day job is cloud computing guy for Microsoft International… I spend time with the people in Redmond [that is Microsoft HQ in Seattle] and our offices around the world figuring out when, where and how to get our cloud computing initiatives going in the right direction.” Amongst all sorts of things Steve writes about, he often gives insight on the issues surrounding “the cloud” and also does a great job of bringing together interesting material on cloud computing from other sources. Last weekend, he posted a feature called Visualising Life in the Cloud which explains the cloud in layman’s terms.
