Interoperability: The Other Side of our Settlement with the European Commission
18 December 2009
Times have changed. "Microsoft has been on a journey itself... doing things on interoperability that were unimaginable just a few years ago..."

Please see this post from our colleague Dave Heiner, putting into perspective this week’s agreement with the European Commission, as well as numerous examples of competitors working together to ensure that different IT products work together.
Such work has been picking up steam for some time in Europe, with an Interoperability lab involving open source vendors at Microsoft France, customer councils in UK and Austria advising Microsoft on their needs, workshops in Brussels addressing interoperability needs relating to eHealth, cross-border Services, document formats, cloud computing, and many more.
The legal commitments set an important baseline, and few can match all the hard work of interoperability that Microsoft is involved with.
