Meeting sustainability requirements in Microsoft Data Centers in Europe
19 October 2009
We at Microsoft are delighted to see the opening of the first "mega data center" here in Europe. The Dublin Data Center is part of Microsoft’s long-term commitment in the region, and is a major step in realising Microsoft’s Software plus Services strategy.

Our new Dublin Data Centre will support demand for online services for business and consumers. And at the same time, we signed the EU Code of Conduct for Green Data Centres, which includes a commitment to comply with European standards and best practices.
And we are happy to be officially recognized best practice by the European Commission meeting the requirements of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign (www.sustenergy.org) in contributing to the achievement of making a voluntary commitment to the EU energy policy goals in the field of energy efficiency.
We created an interesting video on how our new data center in Dublin and other data centers across the world are optimized towards meeting sustainability requirements.
The launching of the Microsoft Data Center in Dublin will be a a good step towards promoting environmental sustainability in IT.
