French company and IAMCP (International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners) member, ASCOT, demonstrates the potential for a small company to tailor cloud computing services for particular sectors: in this instance, the hotel business.
Tailoring cloud solutions for the hospitality industry
Since its inception in 1988, ASCOT has provided solutions to French hotels and restaurants. Its seven employees are experts in adapting big-business solutions for these typically smaller enterprises, helping their clients become more productive and competitive
. ASCOT’s solutions are developed on Microsoft cloud platforms, which provide its client the opportunity to run efficient companies that collect and process large amounts of data at optimized rates.
Since 2009, ASCOT has supported hotelier Christophe Mendjel, and has helped his enterprise make the transition from on-premises computing to the private cloud, and now to public cloud services.
Recognized for his commitment to hospitality with the 2011 High Achieving Hotelier of the Year Award by HSMAI Europe
, Mendjel operates three esteemed hotels in Paris. Initially, each hotel had its own server, which made data processing inefficient across the organization. ASCOT recognized an opportunity to streamline Mendjel’s management by using Windows Server 2008 to create a private cloud space in which Mendjel could store and access its data.
Next, ASCOT added public cloud-based office productivity services and successfully created a coherent network that allowed Mendjel’s hotels to function as one entity rather than disconnected organizations.
ASCOT’s solution acted as a secure data synchronization tool. As a result, Mendjel’s hotels can cope with the intensity of high levels of guests more efficiently by processing information quickly and across management.
The flexibility of the cloud also allows the hotels to collaborate in handling unforeseeable changes in hotel administration and guest documentation. As a result, they have maximized the quality of services offered by all three hotels. ASCOT is now adding Office 365
to Mendjel’s system to further unify communication from one hotel to another.
The cloud provides Mendjel a more simplified administrative process, meaning the proprietor’s hotels can grow without the burden of maintaining isolated bits of information. ASCOT has greatly simplified Christophe Mendjel’s operations. By promoting cloud solutions, ASCOT has added value to its reputation as a tech consultant capable of supporting companies in high-demand and constantly evolving industries.
