Microsoft supports Safer Internet Day, a global campaign promoting a healthy Internet for all. Organized by Insafe and co-founded by the European Union, Safer Internet Day promotes more responsible use of online technologies and services.

In 2010, more than 500 Safer Internet Day events were held in 65 countries and regions. Globally, Microsoft leadership personnel and volunteers assisted partners and non-governmental organizations to host a range of Internet safety-focused events and activities. In Europe alone, we helped teach more than 50,000 parents, teachers, and students about Internet safety.
This year, we continue to promote Internet safety education and responsible online behavior by releasing new educational materials and research in support of the Safer Internet Day theme, "our virtual lives," and banner, "It's more than a game, it's your life." On February 8, 2011, see the results of our online gaming research to learn about awareness and perceptions of safety and privacy among parents of gamers and gamers themselves.
