A Dialogue on Digital Values – Securely connected
23 May 2011
Spurred by pressing questions about Internet security and fundamental rights, our second digital values event “Securely Connected” brought together key stakeholders from EU institutions, industry and NGOs to discuss the security challenges consumers face in an increasingly connected world

Our guest speaker, Mirco Rohr from Kaspersky, provided a pragmatic insight into the challenges of applying our offline concept of
security to the intangible, open and highly intelligent online world. Participants discussed not only how to reconcile security needs and respect for freedom but also what we can collectively do if some of us ignore the risks.
Please find
here the report of Securely Connected. Our next dialogue event
“Future Consumers” takes place on 24th May. Guest speaker is Prof. Urs Gasser, Harvard University.
Our engagement in the security debate continues too. On 26th May, Bill Harmon, Associate General Counsel of Microsoft’s Digital Crime Unit, will be guest speaker at the EP breakfast event “How safe is the European cyberspace? Trends in effectively combatting digital crime” hosted by MEP Ivailo Kalfin.
