The final 15: the start-ups chosen to present at this year’s BizSpark European Summit
What a great market Europe is for tech entrepreneurship and innovation. Hundreds of start-ups from across Europe were entered into this year’s BizSpark European Summit
and I’m awed by the great ideas, business acumen and sheer commitment and energy of our region’s start-ups.
Getting the long list down to just 15 finalists was a tough call, so I am pretty confident that our VIP judges in Brussels on June 14th are going to be pretty impressed too. The final 15 presenting on the day and competing for top place are:
- Actio, Russia
- Atomblock, The Netherlands
- Binary Bio, Sweden
- Biztelligence, Switzerland
- Datahug, Ireland
- DocCom, UK
- Fabrication Games, Sweden,
- Fishing Cactus, Belgium
- i-Dispo, France
- Mopapp, Italy
- Numensus, Germany
- Parcelgenie, UK
- Pixel Pandemic, Denmark
- Techila Technologies, Finland
- Weplay.fm, Spain
As you can see, the final 15 represent broad spread of countries, but they also cover diverse business areas, from supercomputing-in-the-cloud to mobile gifting and games, from advanced image rendering to consumer computer games, from bio-informatics calculations to online social communities. We’ll be publishing more about the finalists over the coming weeks and months.
This short list of 15 reminds me is that despite challenging economic conditions, Europe continues to be the birthplace of some great companies. The challenge for everyone – governments, investors, advisers, partners and companies like us – is to give them the help they need to succeed. Which is what BizSpark European Summit is all about: giving these early stage companies a chance to showcase themselves and make valuable connections.
