Understanding eHealth and its implications: start with Euractiv

Although most people will agree that eHealth is important, it remains a complex landscape which few grasp clearly.

Part of our remit is to seek to explain and simplify the issues at hand. Beyond the rest of the content on this site, we'd recommend the Euractiv page on eHealth, which we support. It is a good starting point as it contains plenty of content and links on the issues that matter, from resources that explain the various technical and logistical facets of eHealth to relevant policy developments.

As parent, I just wanted to share the extremely painful experience my wife and I are going through with medical administration. For 13 months now, we are chasing the different medical stakeholders such as the Pediatricians, Neurologist, Kine etc to simply gather the medical files we need in order to get subsidies for our son and the specific treatments he needs. Not only the situation is already difficult enough but the medical admin journey is just making it even worse. Nothing against Doctors' medical skills, they do a great job, I wish they could do more of it and less admin (they are so bad at that, they still use fax and mailings)...I wish eHealth would be a reality already today.

Any chance to see it happening soon?

Hi Nicholas, we were very sorry to hear about your situation and the health issues of your child.
As Microsoft, we try to do our part in making ehealth become a reality in Europe as fast as possible by increasing the speed at which ehealth solutions and innovations are developed and deployed. However we do recognize that we are only one part in a wider and more complex value chain within the health sector. It is our hope and belief that in a couple of years citizens won’t have to face the difficulties you are encountering now. From a personal and a parental perspective however, we share and understand the pain and difficulties that you and your family are facing and we want to offer our best wishes for the future. Kind regards.
