Craig Mundie talks e-health and technology policy in the cloud area

Last week I published a video interview I conducted with Craig Mundie, Microsoft’s Chief Research and Strategy Officer, where he explains his vision of cloud computing.

During the session we went on to discuss eHealth, and I was interested to hear Craig’s views on how our healthcare systems would operate in the future. Craig talks about the potential e-health has to create more efficient healthcare - more cost-effective and with better outcomes for patients. It will require that computing capabilities be boosted, and a shift to more of a consumer model of healthcare. Using healthcare as an example, Craig goes on to express his thoughts on how data governance, privacy and security will develop to support ehealth systems and protect the patient in the age of the cloud, in particular the role of highly specific rules and responsibilities in technology, which should help to ensure an optimal balance of individual and societal interests.
